8. The Verve, 'Bittersweet Symphony' 1997
7. Michael Jackson, 'Billie Jean' 1983 - Contained paving stones which lit up when Michael stepped on them, was featured on MTV as before they wouldnt of played a black artist. The video uses split screen.
6. Robbie Williams, Rock DJ 2000
5. Madonna, 'Like a Prayer' 1989
4. Queen, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' 1975
3. A-ha , 'Take on Me' , 1985 - Released without the video before and wasnt very successful, but then had a great come back with this video, the cartoon shots contain great effects of animation, as the girl in the normal world is taken into the world of cartoon in the bike magazine, gains an interest.
2. Peter Gabriel, 'Sledgehammer' 1986, Great video as it contains so many effects and different ideas on each shot, is random, and doesnt really have a meaning, the video is just for ammusement purposes.
1. Michael Jackson 'Thriller' 1983! Number 1 as the director of Blues Brothers who shot Thriller, has used great effects of scaring the audience with scary masks and warewolf costumes/makeup. The video and song are iconic of the 'Thriller dance' as when you think of the song you cant help but match it to the dance. Michael Jacksons moves are so smooth that this increases the success as he could truely dance and was an amazing artist.

Mood Board
Here is a mood board that I created in my media lesson to give an indication of what our music video will be about, and if it was going to be a happy mood, emotional, or romantic. The images of clouds, rain, the forest, the sunset and the animals are all images of nature and match the soft acoustic sound of the music and the guitar. The mood of the song is quite happy, which is where the images of 'sweet' themes occur as the song has cheery aspects. As the song is about Simon who I am working with, it will contain emotion and personal feelings, as the song was written by a close friend, who may also feature in our film adding more personality. The are themes of love in the lyrics which also match the images of the pretty flowers, sunset and the sky, as all theme images give off warmth.

Alike Artists
For part of our coursework, me and my group have chosen certain artists which are similar to the song we have chosen because they contain similar aspects such as the soft tone, or acoustic guitar used. By selecting an alike artist we can see what our song will be like, and if it will contain some of the same aspects for the creation of our video ideas.
Regina Spektor's song 'Samson'
Regina Spektors song 'Samson' is similar to our chosen song because it contains a soft acoustic tone which our music does as well. Her music also has a slow pace and contains lots of emotion, having the same theme of love.
Bon Iver - Skinny Love

Focus Group
Me and my group are going to hold a focus group soon so that we can ask different people there opinions on our song choice and say why why they enjoyed or were interested in our song. We will film there answers and then post this on our blog in order to carry out our Target Audience stage or our coursework.
Example of our music
Here is an example of our music, we are going to be using another copy of the song which is more recent and better quality.
My group and I chose this song because it contains lots of emotion and has a personal message to my group member Simon. It has a soft acoustic tone and uses music instruments such as the guitar which adds to the genre of the song. The song is also quite slow which is beneficial for the video as it will be easier to film clips for different parts of the song. As the music is slow, it does add to the soft tone in the song and the narrative along with this.
