Question 4: How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

In the research part of my music video I used new media technologies such as the Youtube website which was helpful when analysing what makes music video's effective and seeing different music video genres for the planning of my own music video. It was helpful to see what elements of the music video conventions I wanted to display in my own video.

My Music Video used new media technologies such as the editing programme Final Cut Express and Photoshop in the construction part of my video. These programmes of new media technologies allowed my video footage to be cut and linked to make my video. By using Final Cut Express I was able to insert transitions and fades to conform to real media products. Final Cut Express as a new technology helped me to develop my music video as I could change the colour of my footage, making it brighter and more attractive to the audience. The website www.dafont.com also helped me as a new media technology as I could chose the correct text for my ancillary tasks, making it look more professional.

The Camera itself was effective in the construction part of my music video as it allowed me to create different shots for different moods. As the video camera is a new media , I could successfully portray tilt shots, mid shots, high and low angle shots to represent different moods.

The construction part of my Digipak and Magazine Advert used new media technologies for the creation of my ancillary tasks. The research part of my Digipak and Magazine Advert used new media technology

Wordle: my wordle
Here is a creative and fun way to display the new media products which helped me with the planning, construction and research of my music video.

Some examples of new media technology are displayed to indicate specifically how new technologies helped in the planning, research and construction parts of my music video.

The Camera was very useful when planning and constructing my music video as it has a twist able viewing screen which means you can view your footage as you are filming, and check if there are any mistakes. Also the playback setting on the camera is very useful when wanting to view footage back after filming. This allows the director to film any parts of footage instead of filming the whole thing again.

The tape in the camera is a safe way of transferring footage from the camera to the imac when uploading. Te high definition setting when uploaded created a clearer image which meant that the video was in better quality.

The Tripod being a new technology of media was very useful in the filming stage of our video as it allowed us to use high and low angle shots to present different moods and to be more creative. The main quality of the tripod helped keep the image still when filming and avoided blurry images occurring. It was also credible in the planning stage, for example in the preliminary exercise the tripod was useful when trying out different angles, and getting used to film for the real media thriller and music video.

The editing programme Final Cut Express as a new technology helped me in cutting, lengthening and the speed of the footage. When making a music video the timing of the music and lip syncing was easier to achieve on Final Cut Express.

Example of Final Cut Express

We used the 'Colour Corrector' on Final Cut express as a new media which allowed us to update colours to make them brighter. We could edit the saturation and tone of colour.

The imac computer helped me during the stages of planning the music video. This was because I could access The Final Cut Express programme, and use various websites in the creation of my digipak and magazine advert, such as Youtube.com, Prezi.com, Mobygratis, Unsigned, Wordle, Slideshare. All these websites helped me to be more creative when analysing my music video and writing progress and changes along the way. Imacs are very efficient as they hold a lot of memory, thus we didnt have to worry about deleting or losing information. Most of the programmes that we needed are already on the imac's in order to carry out our progress with the video.

The programme Photoshop as a new media technology helped me with making my digipak and magazine advert. Photoshop has many options where you can chose the font style for writing and the title of the magazine advert, the colour of the writing and the position of images and text on the screen for a more professional design.

I also used microsoft word and powerpoint to use a variety of different media's when displaying information in a creative way. This was very easy to upload onto our blogs.

General media items such as mobile phones, camera's and social networking sites such as Facebook helped with the research and planning stage as we could take photos of our locations when filming. Facebook was exceptionally useful with my audience feedback as I could publish my survey from surveymonkey.com straight onto facebook which published my survey to a group of different ages, genders not making the video bias.

The website Blogger has enabled me to publish all of my work throughout AS and A2 Media Studies, in which I have published planning methods such as animatics, story boarding and images of filming. Blogger has been a useful place to display all of my work in stages finally to the final music video, digipak and magazine advert.

Youtube is a useful new media as it contains lots of different video's and examples that I could look at for research of music video's at the start of the year. I could put these examples on my blog to show different genre's and the conventions of a music video.

Question 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

From my audience research including both my Focus Group and Survey I have collected useful information which gives me an indication of the effective and positive elements of my music video, digipak and magazine advert, and also any improvements or negative elements there are about the video.

Some Answers From My Survey using surveymonkey.com

The results I have obtained are mostly positive and effective elements or techniques seen in my music video and ancillary tasks.

This question of my survey tells me that most people enjoyed my music video as it either has an 8 or 9 out of 10 so far which is a high mark.

Question 4 and 5's results are also positive as I asked my audience how high they would rate the lip syncing and the acting in my music video. I am very happy with the answers of 'excellent and good' as this means that they enjoyed my music video.

The improvement section of my survey is useful so I can know which elements of the video are not so great or could have been improved. Here are some answers for the improvement's in my video.

I then asked the audience which parts of the video were there favorite.  Here is what they said.

Most of the results are from more females than males which means the results could be a bit biased.  The age taget responses show that my video appeals to the 15-20, 20-25 age groups

What I have learnt from the Focus Group: Audience feedback?

From my Focus Group I have learnt that the audience did enjoy the different qualities of my Music Video.

After asking them these following questions: the results were highly positive based on the answers in the video.

1. Did you enjoy our music video?
2. Why did you enjoy it?
3. What was your favorite part?
4. Is there anything you would change?
5. Do you think the music video matched the song?

Overall I have learnt that my music video was effective and did have conventions that made it alike to a real media product.
I have enjoyed the process of making the music video, especially the filming part as it was a new experience for me to lip sync, based on the answers given in my audience research I believe that this was successful.

Here are some responses from a website called wallwisher.com
I used this previously to gather some audience feedback, including positive comments on my video.
