Preliminary Exercise

For our preliminary task, me and my group had to practice lip syncing in our own music video. We were given the song 'Dont Go Breaking My Heart' by Elton John and Kiki Dee and a song sheet to learn the lyrics.
For our song to be loud enough to hear we had to Blue -tooth it from an imac computer to our mobile phone or other devise. We then had to play our song out loud, I have learnt that singing out loud to the song it more convincing than trying to mime as when you sing there is more personality and a better quality video as it is difficult to match the lyrics exactly and keep in time with the song.

Whilst filming our video we had to shoot different parts, one of both of the singers, then one of each from a mid shot.
After we had finished filming the song we had to edit, and the process our clip by cutting up the clips to see which ones we wanted to keep and which position we wanted them to be in.

  • Firstly we used 'screen grab' to the process of editing, we used whole takes whilst filming to make the video look more realistic. I also learnt how to use the layering technique in the editing process to create a different style of editing, with this technique we could allow more than one of the same person by copying their image and pasting it somewhere else in the screen.
  • Once we had lined up all of our shots in the positions we wanted them to be, and made the timing correct between the song and our lip syncing we used the 'Mountain Tool' to grab parts of the video we wanted to keep by dragging the lines up, this way it was much easier for us to see what we wanted to keep, and chose the postition of edits we had wanted.
